The Getabout is a public-private partnership established in 1981 to provide transportation for New Canaan Seniors and those with special needs. For many residents the Getabout is their only means of affordable transportation, enabling them to maintain independence and a high quality of life in the community.

• Residents use the Getabout for a number of destinations, including shopping, local medical offices, day programs at the Waveny Care Center, Lapham Community Center, the YMCA and the New Canaan Library.
• The Getabout fleet includes two full-size and two mini-vans, operated by a corps of experienced and specially-licensed drivers. Three of the vehicles have the capability of accommodating wheel-chair bound passengers.
• Getabout provides rides daily, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am through 4:00 pm.
• For a ride, at least call 24 hours in advance, 972-7433 for a reservation. For Monday pickup please call the preceding Friday at the latest.
• The suggested donation is $3.00 per trip.
